Why Sponsor Us?
The University of Delaware Club Trap and Skeet Team is a group of up and coming sport shooters from up and down the east coast. We teach proper firearm safety, sport shooting etiquette, and how to improve scores. Our Club puts the largest emphasis on safety- there is no other priority. After safety, we teach etiquette; in sport shooting, there are unspoken rules that must be followed otherwise, you are not a good "squad-mate". As much as we would like, we cannot shoot together for the rest of our lives so we strive for our graduates to know the etiquette required to not disrupt a squad. Furthermore, we teach how to improve a shooter's scores. Many come to us with little to no clay target shooting experience; we pride ourselves that we can improve a shooter's score as much as we do in the limited four years that we have together, all without a formal coach! We teach our friends how they can improve on the little things to make big improvements in their scores. Our team is built on the basics: get a group of people together who love something in common, teach them safety and the basic components, refine their game with continuous practice.
Our team is unique in that we do not have a coach. As much as we would like to change this, we cannot find anyone in the Newark area willing to make the time commitment. Our team is entirely run by our executive board with leadership from the University of Delaware Office of Club Sports. While our team is making the right steps, we need all the help we can get!
Young shooters are the future of shooting sports. The average age of the Amateur Trapshooting Association, National Skeet Shooting Association, and National Sporting Clays Association have all dramatically increased in the last twenty-plus years. Our goal is to introduce young people to the sport shooting to keep the sports alive with the times. Other goals include teaching proper firearm safety, improving young shooters scores, and creating never ending bonds with other young shooters. Our beloved sports will not survive without the younger generation shooting or, at the very least, accepting shooting and guns.
